Phobia denotes fear of a certain thing, whereas, mania denotes an obsession with something. Now, I know the weightage of these type of questions is very less and a lot of aspirants may ask why they should spend time on this when they could be practicing some other subject. The answer is simple. Even though these questions get very little weightage, if they do appear, being able to crack them will work greatly to your advantage. They're very simple to crack. Observe the following steps and you'll be on your way: - Use the 'word root' method. - Remove the 'phobi/ mania' from the end of the word. - try to go to the root of the word and you'll have an answer. A very simple example would be aquaphobia. Removing phobia, we're left with aqua. We all know aqua stands for water. Thus aquaphobia means the fear of water. I'll be starting a daily dose segment on phobias and manias. Do follow it closely for a plethora of words. Have fun :(y): | | | | |
