1. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry is learnt to have suggested setting up of a Committee of Secretaries (CoS) to scrutinise and work out details for the coal bed methane (CBM) pricing mechanism which has been hanging fire for a long time now. 2. Seattle-based coffee chain Starbucks, which had brewed an equal partnership with the Tatas early this year, said it will open the first store in south Mumbai by October-end. 3. Invesco Ltd, a global investment management firm, on Thursday, entered into an agreement with Religare Enterprises Limited (REL) to acquire a 49 percent interest in Religare Asset Management Company (RAMC) Limited. 4. The closure of a large plant by Foxconn, a Taiwan-based company that supplies critical equipment to companies such as Apple (including its iPhone and iPad product range), Sony and Nintendo, is unlikely to affect operations of companies from that country in China. 5. Coimbatore-based textile company KPR Mill will commission a sugar unit in Karnataka next month. KPR Mill has textile spinning mills and fabric processing and garment units in Tamil Nadu. It exported almost 45 per cent of the yarn and 100 per cent of the garments it produced. The focus of the sugar unit, however, would be on the domestic market 6. Japanese auto major Nissan is looking at doubling its sales this year with the rollout of its first seven-seater multi-utility vehicle 'Evalia' here on Thursday. "From 33,000 units sold last year, we plan to double our domestic sales this year to around 66,000 units while maintaining export volumes at nearly 100,000 units," Takayuki Ishida, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motor India. 7. Arvind Lifestyle Brands, a subsidiary of Arvind, one of the oldest and largest integrated Indian textile players, has bought the business operations of British fashion retailers Debenhams, Next and American Lifestyle brand Nautica in India from Planet Retail. 8. Samsung Electronics, on Thursday, unveiled the upgraded version of its phablet, Galaxy Note II, incorporating newfeatures. Galaxy Note II, powered by the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, is loaded with the latest hardware technologies, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor. Priced at Rs.39,900, the upgraded smartphone-tablet hybrid sports a 5.5-inch Amoled HD display with 2GB RAM, and internal storage of 16 GB expandable up to 64 GB. 9. Tata Sons-promoted Infiniti Retail, on Thursday, announced the acquisition of Woolworths Wholesale (India), the Indian business of the Australian company, Woolworths, for Australian $35 million (about Rs.200 crore). A statement from Infiniti said the transaction would be completed in the coming weeks. 10. Turning down a request for Rs.200-crore working loan by Kingfisher, the State Bank of India-led lenders consortium, asked SBI Capitals to chalk out a fresh revival plan for the cash-strapped airline in the next 2-3 weeks.
