Detailed Info about the College WHAT sets apart Galgotias Business School ( GBS) from its peers in Delhi- NCR is its flexibility. Its credit system allows students to design their own curriculum by choosing course combinations of their choice. Adaptability is the key to the growth of an institution and a successful institution has to constantly adapt and evolve in sync to socio- economic changes," says Renu Luthra, Director, GBS. Adaptability is also essential to remain as a key supplier of talent the industry," she adds. was this belief that prompted GBS recently to launch a programme to produce trained sales officers in association with automobile major Toyota Kirloskar Motor TKM). The agreement signed in September stipulates that TKM train the selected students to become automotive sales managers and after they graduate, would recruit them as sales officers the company's 78 dealer networks across India. The programme is called Toyota Sales Education Foundation. The course, where the intake will limited to 40 students, will consist of 40 hours of classroom teaching and 20 hours of on- the- job training in the form of projects and ground- level research. The on- thejob training modules will be conducted at Toyota dealerships. The programme will introduce students various aspects of sales such as automobile marketing and customer management and familiarise them with the pre- and postsales processes. We have fostered linkages with corporates that are relevant to the profile of our students," says Luthra. " This has enabled our students to find jobs in corporate houses with relative ease." The emphasis at GBS is to keep developing connections with industry. " The core faculty's efforts are supplemented by classes taken by eminent experts drawn from industry and academia," says Luthra. " The series of conferences that we organise round the year on themes relevant to the profile of the students enable companies to know and asses them better, and this leads to a gradual placement process wherein all aspiring students are employed by the time they graduate." Apart from emphasis on automotive sales, the TSEF curriculum also focuses on soft skills such as communications and personality development. E STABLISHED by entrepreneur Suneel Galgotia, Chairman, Galgotias Educational Institutions, in 2007, this institute has been graded A* ( national) and A** ( state) by the credit rating agency CRISIL, and featured in Dun & Bradstreet's list of India's leading business schools. It has a 100 per cent placement record and its partner companies include Airtel, Indiabulls, Sharekhan and Reliance Fresh. The GBS faculty has a strong research focus and papers by its members are published in reputed national and international journals. The school also gets international guest faculty members from Purdue, Oakland, Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech universities, lending a multi- cultural flavour to the GBS campus. " Our multi- disciplinary learning system gives students exposure to the liberal arts and enables them to develop a well- rounded perspective on the world, which has become a prerequisite for the new generation of business leaders," says Luthra. GBS offers two- year, full- time PGDM programmes, including one specialising in Marketing. It also offers a Management Development Programme, which aims at enhancing the competencies of managers and executives in tune with the changing requirements of industry. " We constantly upgrade the content of our management programmes and make changes continually," adds Luthra. It isn't really a challenge for GBS to make such offerings. Members of its faculty are experts with a wealth of experience in different streams of management such as General Management, Human Resources, Organisational Behaviour, Marketing, Finance, Information Systems and Strategic Management. With so much to offer, GBS clearly is on the fast track.
