Assumption implies the act of taking something for granted. In logic the assumption means a proposition used as a premises, as an argument. In this type of questions, one statement is given which is followed by two assumptions marked I and II. The candidate is required to examine the given statement and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in it. The answers should be indicated as under: a) If only assumption I is implicit b) If only assumption II is implicit c) If either I or II is implicit d) If neither I nor II is implicit e) If both I and II are implicit So here we start !!! STATEMENT: opening a library in Munnar will be a wastage. ASSUMPTIONS: 1) Inhabitants of Munnar are illiterate. 2) Inhabitants of Rambli are not interested in reading. STATEMENT: the instructions clearly stated that those who were appearing in test for the first time can seek invigilator's help to fill in their bio data. ASSUMPTIONS: 1) The test was quite liberal in which the help from the invigilator could be sought in case of any difficulty. 2) The candidates came to appear in the test again and again. STATEMENT: more than a decade of erosion in budgetary support from the Union government has seriously affected Indian railway's capacity to finance its planned expenditures. ASSUMPTIONS: 1) It is likely that the government has shifted its focus from railways to the other areas. 2) Union government has not been able to enhance its resources base for budgetary support to various areas. STATEMENT: people are very happy that the relations between Israel and Egypt are improving. ASSUMPTIONS: 1) The relations between Israel and Egypt have been strained. 2) The improvement of relations between the two countries affect the people the most.
