Detailed Info About the College ABLEND of academic excellence and business acumen — that's what FORE School of Management promises students who enter its portals. Much of the institution's strength is rooted in its state- of- the art facilities, which have helped FORE School achieve and sustain its leadership in management education, research, consultancy and development. The other big plus is the extent of industry linkages the institute has been able to nurture over the 31 years it has been around in the Capital. According to Jitendra K. Das, Director, FORE School of Management, students get opportunities through the year to undertake projects given out by leading corporate houses under the supervision of faculty members. The students are also taken in small batches, with a senior faculty member to guide them, to manufacturing units for a reinforcement of theoretical inputs with practical applications. The instructional methodology at FORE School, according to Das, comprises an optimum mix of lectures, classroom discussions, case studies, role plays and management games, group discussions, special sessions conducted by professionals from industry and trade, sensitivity training, and industry visits. Students are encouraged to present their case studies at individual or group presentations.
Faculty The faculty is another of FORE School of Management's area of strength. It has a team of 35 core faculty members representing a mix of academics and industry experts. Many of them are former IIM faculty members and they bring them extended national, international and industry experience. And they keep updating their knowledge by attending conferences across the world. " Our mission is to provide contextual learning that aids in the holistic development of students, equipping them with the skills needed to meet the challenges of tomorrow as corporate leaders," says Das.
Academic Programmes With a student strength of 750 and located in a well- wooded corner of south- west Delhi, the school offers two- year, full- time diploma programmes in Management ( PGDM) and International Business ( PGDM- IB), and a three- year, part- time prorgamme in Management for working executives. The programmes are aimed at developing multiple skills in the areas of decision- making, problem- solving, analytical reasoning, communications, creativity and innovation. And to keep the students abreast of international developments, the FORE School has developed strong linkages with institutions around the world. " We are aware of the need to provide an international perspective to our students," explains Das. " The FORE School embarked upon building an international network a few years ago and it has now redoubled its effort to sign broadbased bilateral agreements with business schools in Europe and in the U. S.," Das adds. S OME of the FORE School's international partners are ESC Rennes School of Business in Brittany, France; College of Business Administration, Savannah State University, Georgia, USA; Faculty of Business, University of New Brunswick, Canada; and Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. " Foreign tie- ups are no longer a differentiators but an essential attribute that corporate recruiters look for when they source young talent," says Das. " We are now in the final stages of discussion with two international universities for a broad academic agreement encompassing student as well as faculty members." The FORE School, unsurprisingly, has been attracting leading recruiters such as ICICI Bank, SBI, Ernst & Young, LG Electronics, Thomas Cook and Whirlpool — as many as 36 of them showed up for the institute's campus placements season. " The average annual pay package this year was ` 8 lakh and the highest salary offered was ` 39.6 lakh," Das adds. With a glimmer of a turnaround in the global economy and India seeing the second wave of reforms, it's a great time to be in a management school, according to Das. That should inspire future managers to the take their first step towards a fulfilling career.
